Dear Friends of Our Lady,
This is the 41st Anniversary of the
First Message of Our Lady to the four girls in the village of Garabandal,
October 18, 1961. Our website, www.garabandal.us, offers many articles
by priests and other writers for your reflection and I cannot improve
on the historical or theological insight they have provided.
However, I do want to give
you some of my thoughts and to let you know that the Message is
spreading globally based on emails we are receiving here at the
home of the Workers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in New York. We
have heard from Kuwait, Japan, the Czech Republic, France, Australia,
Malta, Ireland, Spain, Argentina, Bolivia, Panama, Canada, Holland,
Peru, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, El Salvador, the fifty states
and many other places.
The response to our website
is beyond my expectations. I personally want to thank each one of
you for joining us in what I call a Union of Prayer. Your prayer
requests have truly touched me. Each email and letter is read to
me and I am united with you in prayer. Masses continue to be said
on the 18th of every month for all the intentions received on the
website and the mail. I love hearing from you and am happy we can
keep this connection.
I spend most of my time now
saying the rosary. Padre Pio (now a saint) told me the rosary was
my key to Heaven. I recommend you read Pope John Paul II’s
apostolic letter, The Rosary of the Virgin Mary (Rosarium Virginis
Mariae). It covers the importance of the rosary, how to pray it,
and its promotion throughout the Church. The New York Center Workers
have made and distributed millions of rosaries around the world
for 30 years and we continue to send rosaries to underdeveloped
countries, especially into Africa. Today, we live in a dangerous
world of evil, terror, and war. What is our weapon? Our Lady said
at Lourdes, Fatima and Garabandal-it is the rosary.
I am humbled by the support and donations we continue to receive
even without a quarterly magazine. (Due to your request we are preparing
an Order Form of Garabandal materials for the website-it will be
posted soon, as part of our continuing improvement of the website.)
You should know that, starting this summer and currently until December
2002, we are shipping boxes of Garabandal books, rosaries, leaflets,
holy cards, and religious articles to our many contacts in Africa.
Africa has always been special to us and we will continue our support.
Your donations went to cover the cost of postage.
We welcome our Spanish-speaking
friends. New areas are opening up in South and Central America,
Mexico, and Puerto Rico through the Spanish language website. We
plan to improve this site further in 2003.
We ask you to be patient with
us. Our website has come a long way in eight months and we will
have more to offer.
In Union of Prayer,
