Padre Pio
Fra Pio was ordained Padre Pio on August 10, 1910. That day holy cards with a prayer written on the back that was composed by Padre Pio were distributed. His prayer, "… Make me an alter for your cross. A golden chalice for your blood." Within a month, he received the stigmata, the five wounds of Christ. Of all the testimonies of Padre Pio and Garabandal, the one that was to have the greatest impact on the Garabandal movement was that of Joey Lomangino. In fact, it was only because of Padre Pio that Joey became involved in Garabandal. Joey received many blessings from Padre Pio and the miracle of a restoration of his sense of smell. Joey hesitated to go to Garabandal but said, " Because I received the assurance from Padre Pio that the Virgin was appearing and that he permitted me to go, then I wasn't afraid and I went". Garabandal - The Workers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel de Garabandal INC. is a non-profit, tax exempt, religious organization incorporated in 1968 by our founder, Joseph Lomangino of Lindenhurst, New York. Garabandal - The purpose of the Workers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is to promote the messages of Our Lady given during her alleged apparitions at San Sebastian de Garabandal, Spain (1961-1965)...Apparitions of Garabandal - On June 18, 1961, St. Michael the Archangel appeared to four girls of Garabandal, Spain. It was the first of the apparitions of Garabandal. Further apparitions of Garabandal occurred over the next several days.
